Episode 35 - Amanda Cordero with Gigi's Playhouse and Craig Woodard Sr with Down Syndrome Association of Tampa Bay
Welcome to the thirty-fifth episode of “That is Good to Know”! Today Jeff welcomes Thomas Blake, Amanda Cordero with Gigi’s Playhouse and Craig Woodard Sr with Down Syndrome Association of Tampa Bay
Thomas Blake
Thomas grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut, where he attended Fairfield Warde High School. Later, he pursued higher education at Harvard University, graduating and turning pro in 1996.
Thomas competed in both singles and doubles events. In singles, he had a modest record, but it was in doubles that he truly shone. He partnered with James Blake in the US Open doubles in 1999 and 2002, showcasing their sibling synergy on the court.
Thomas’s academic background was impressive. As a Harvard Crimson alumnus, he brought both brains and brawn to the tennis court.
Amanda Cordero
President
Amanda’s overall philosophy is that anything can be beautiful if you’re looking at it the right way. And what she sees when she’s looking at our friends at Gigi’s Playhouse is pure love, pure joy, and pure innocence, and she feels compelled to share that with the rest of the world. The Playhouse not only supports and educates an underserved demographic, but it also spreads awareness and inclusion throughout the community.
Craig Woodard Sr
Executive Director & President
Craig Woodard Sr. embodies the spirit of service—a beacon in his community, a mentor to many, and a tireless advocate for positive change. Born and raised in the heart of a small town, Craig’s journey unfolded against the backdrop of rolling hills, tight-knit neighborhoods, and the echoes of generations past.
Craig Woodard Sr.’s impact transcends titles and accolades. It lives on in the laughter of children playing at the newly renovated park, in the murals that adorn Main Street, and in the hearts of those who continue his work. His story reminds us that leadership isn’t about grand gestures; it’s about showing up, caring deeply, and leaving the world a little better than we found it.
